YOUR SUPPORT HELPS TO MAKE IT ALL POSSIBLE
"I really enjoyed Carrier because my husband was on a carrier in WWII. I felt much pride as that ship came into Hawaii and past the Arizona…a couple of tears fell from my eyes. It takes me back 63 years. Thank you." |

"I just had to congratulate CET on its extraordinary presentation of Carrier. I am not a 'Navy' kind of guy, nor had I deliberately scheduled my time around watching it, but once I started watching, I found it absolutely compelling. The other guys may create 'reality TV' but this was the real thing and seduced me from beginning to end. A commitment of 10 hours to a program like this is the kind of programming only CET can do; we are so fortunate to have in this community a resource like CET that can take these kinds of creative and programming risks." |

These are just two of the many comments we received from CET viewers of the gripping miniseries Carrier.
Carrier was only one of the many outstanding programs you could experience on CET recently. They were all made possible because of financial contributions to CET.
We've heard from Jane Austen lovers who said that Masterpiece's recent "The Complete Jane Austen" series enticed them to re-read all those wonderful books they first discovered years ago. Two new PBS KIDS programs—Super Why and Word World—recently joined our lineup. One mom said, "My son is learning letters, sounds and even how to spell simple words. He’s not even four yet!"
Our award-winning news and public affairs programs—including The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Frontline, NOW, Bill Moyers Journal—help us to make sense of the world's complex news stories. This year, these programs won ten News and Documentary Emmys, equaling or topping all broadcast and cable networks for the seventh time in seven years. And, the Roper Public Affairs and Media Poll found our news programs to be the most trustworthy—for the fourth year in a row.
CET was proud to broadcast programs like Carrier and Ken Burns' The War, but we were even more proud to present local stories about World War II and life on a carrier. We recorded dozens of stories of local WWII veterans and featured them on air and right here on our innovative web site. We are doing the same with the stories of local carrier veterans. And because these stories are on the Internet they will be available for future generations to view whenever and wherever they desire.
